Focus Features has released a new trailer for director Robert Eggers' upcoming medieval horror film, Werwulf. Accompanying the trailer is the announcement of an alternate reality game (ARG) tied to the film's marketing campaign.
The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a 13th-century farmer afflicted with lycanthropy, alongside Lily-Rose Depp as his wife. A trio of wolf hunters, portrayed by Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson, and Jack Morris, are on a mission to kill the creature.
The Werwulf ARG is scheduled to run in conjunction with the lunar cycle, with new phases timed to each full moon from September through November 2026. Participants will visit DevourethAllMankynde.com to find a "hidden 'sign' on various digital platforms" each month. This sign must then be deciphered and entered back into the website to complete the moon's objective. Players will have a 24-hour window during each full moon to find the sign before it disappears. The ARG promises a "mysterious prize" for those who successfully complete all three moons.
The first clue for the ARG has been made available. Werwulf is set to premiere in theaters on December 25.
