Robert Pattinson Claims Michael Bay's Transformers Is 'The Definitive Movie of the 2000s'

During an appearance on the YouTube show The List, hosted by A24 and Letterboxd, actor Robert Pattinson jokingly declared Michael Bay's 2007 film Transformers to be "the definitive movie of the 2000s." Pattinson, known for his playful demeanor and past instances of fabricating stories for interviews, made the remark with a characteristic smirk.

Pattinson and co-host Lance Oppenheim were discussing films with vibrant, saturated color grading, a style Pattinson argued reached its peak with Transformers and was subsequently abandoned. This assessment comes amidst Pattinson's promotion for his new film Primetime, a psychological thriller where he portrays a character inspired by To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen.

Primetime has garnered critical attention, with IGN awarding it a 9/10 and praising Pattinson's performance. The real Chris Hansen, however, described the film as a "fever dream" and has announced plans to produce his own documentary. Pattinson is also currently involved in production for The Batman Part 2, which he has suggested will take a significantly different approach from its predecessor. He has expressed skepticism about integrating his Batman character into James Gunn's broader DC universe, citing the distinct tone of his films.

In unrelated Transformers news, the planned crossover film with G.I. Joe has reportedly been canceled. Bradley Cooper is set to star as Duke in a separate G.I. Joe movie directed by Danny McBride.
