Filming for Matt Reeves's The Batman Part 2 has been temporarily paused, a development that has sparked concern among DC fans. However, star Robert Pattinson has provided a reassuring statement, suggesting that production will resume and the project will be completed.
Speaking at the U.K. premiere of his new film, Primetime, Pattinson acknowledged the pause in production. "We're pausing for a little bit," he told Pop Drop, "but we're going to figure it all out." This statement aims to quell anxieties that the film might be shelved, especially in the wake of recent corporate shifts within Warner Bros. Discovery.
The sequel to 2022's The Batman has already experienced significant delays, having missed its initial October 2025 release window. The film is currently slated for a February 18, 2028 release, and this date has not yet been officially altered despite director Matt Reeves's temporary departure due to a family matter.
While plot details for The Batman Part 2 remain scarce, set photos have fueled speculation that the Court of Owls may feature prominently. Pattinson is set to reprise his role as Batman, alongside Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred. The cast will also include new additions such as Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, Scarlett Johansson, and Charles Dance.
Pattinson's Batman exists outside the new DC Universe helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Gunn has confirmed that Reeves's distinct Batman continuity will remain separate from the main DCU, a decision that allows for future installments like The Batman Part 2 to exist independently. The DCU's own Batman film, The Brave and the Bold, is reportedly in early development and will feature a different iteration of the character.
