Roblox has introduced Build, a new artificial intelligence tool designed to allow users to generate basic games from text prompts directly on their mobile phones. This initiative marks Roblox's latest push into AI-powered creation, aiming to simplify the game development process for a wider audience.

Users can reportedly input prompts such as "Let's make a cozy adventure game set in a dense forest with environmental obstacles," which the AI will then use to generate a foundational game. Creators can then refine, test, and share these generated games with friends or publish them to the Roblox platform. A basic version of Build will be available at no cost, with advanced features offered through paid options for more experienced creators.

Roblox CEO David Baszucki stated that Build is intended to facilitate faster iteration and reduce technical limitations, enabling creators to achieve more than previously possible with individual or small team efforts. He emphasized that the tool is not solely for established studios but also for new creators with a singular vision, many of whom have roots as Roblox players.

Build utilizes a combination of open-source and proprietary Roblox AI models trained on extensive datasets of 3D models and gaming-specific data. According to Roblox, these models can generate functional 3D objects and entire 3D scenes that integrate seamlessly with existing creation tools.

A public alpha of Build, including game publishing capabilities, will become available to users in New Zealand starting July 28. The tool will be accessible to age-verified users aged nine and older. Games that pass Roblox's safety evaluations will be made available globally to age-verified users aged 16 and up.

In addition to Build, Roblox plans to release new agentic tools on July 28 for professional creators. These tools are designed to proactively identify bugs through simulated playtesting, offer insights into game performance, and suggest improvements for player engagement and retention.
