Rockstar Games has announced Nopixel V, the newest version of the custom Grand Theft Auto V roleplaying experience, which the studio is touting as the "next evolution of the GTA 5 roleplay community." Developed in collaboration with Nopixel Studios, the modded sandbox will be accessible through the Rockstar Games Launcher, but exclusively for invited streamers.
This invite-only beta marks a significant shift for the popular roleplaying scene, which often allows broader public access. Nopixel announced on its Discord server that while access will expand through future invitation phases, there are currently no direct means for the general public to join. For existing players on the Nopixel Public and Nopixel 4.0 servers, nothing will change.
The collaboration with Rockstar has been instrumental in developing Nopixel V. The Nopixel team stated that their work with Rockstar has enabled them to "push the boundaries of what's possible in Grand Theft Auto 5" through new capabilities and refined development tools. One notable enhancement detailed by the modders includes modifications to the GTA 5 map, featuring the addition of 1,000 ownable properties.
Invited players are scheduled to begin streaming Nopixel V on September 8. The announcement has sparked discussion within the GTA RP community, particularly given the impending release of Grand Theft Auto 6. However, Rockstar has not yet revealed any official plans for GTA Online in relation to GTA 6, nor has it provided a PC release date for the highly anticipated sequel.
