Rockstar Games has finally issued a statement regarding the recent leaks of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay footage, acknowledging the unauthorized release as "heartbreaking for our team." The developer also apologized for the prolonged silence and the time it has taken to share official details about the highly anticipated title.
In a post shared via social media, Rockstar addressed the community directly, stating, "We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week." The company confirmed that seeing gameplay videos appear in this manner was not the intended introduction to Grand Theft Auto VI after years of development. "This is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time," the statement read.
Rockstar further extended an apology for the delay in providing comprehensive information. "We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has—from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know," the company stated. The developer did not provide further details on the nature of the leaks or any actions being taken in response, but confirmed that the game is nearing completion.
