Rockstar Says GTA 6 Prioritizes Scale and Detail Without Compromise

Rockstar Games is striving to achieve an unprecedented level of detail and scope in Grand Theft Auto VI, according to Rockstar boss Aaron Garbut. In a recent interview, Garbut stated that the development team has avoided compromising scale for detail or vice versa, a common challenge in game development. "Everything is dialed up--detail, scope, breadth, scale, interaction, and density," he told Game Informer, adding that the studio has "never created anything close to this before."

Garbut explained that the immense pressure to deliver a high-quality product has been met by an effort to "overdeliver" on all fronts. While no game can encompass every possibility, Grand Theft Auto VI aims to capture the "full Florida experience" in its setting of Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida. The game is set to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Reports indicate that the game has already achieved nearly 6 million in pre-sales, totaling over $570 million.

Further details revealed this week include the inclusion of more than 170 animal species, ranging from cane toads to monkeys, and a new dynamic weather system designed to enhance the game's immersive qualities.
