Morefun Studios is preparing to release Roco Kingdom globally, with a closed beta test scheduled for October 27. The game, which originated in China, has achieved significant success since its launch there in March 2026, topping mobile app charts for active users and revenue.
Roco Kingdom boasts a 16-year history, beginning as a browser game in 2010. The franchise has since expanded into multiple media, including four feature films, an animated series, and over 100 books. Across its various iterations, the game has amassed more than 350 million registered players within China.
The upcoming global release is a multiplayer open-world creature-collecting game where players embody a Roco. The objective is to explore the continent of Carosia, befriending over 400 unique native creatures known as Jinies. Each Jini possesses distinct characteristics such as height, weight, and behaviors, contributing to a dynamic and interactive game world.
Developed by Morefun Studios, also known for the extraction shooter Arena Breakout: Infinite, Roco Kingdom has been in development for six years. The game's world is designed around natural habitats, with diverse landscapes and climates influencing the behavior and distribution of Jini species, creating what the developers describe as a living ecosystem.
The core gameplay loop involves discovering, catching, and training Jinies. However, Roco Kingdom also emphasizes social features beyond traditional trading and battling. Players can customize and manage their own home spaces, visit friends' in-game properties, and traverse the world together on shared mounts. The game will support cross-platform play, allowing PC and mobile users to interact seamlessly.
Addressing concerns about its free-to-play model, Morefun Studios asserts that Roco Kingdom is not pay-to-win. All Jinies are attainable through in-game progression, and competitive play is designed to prioritize strategy, including type matchups, team composition, and roster diversity, over player spending. Registration for the closed beta test is currently open on the official Roco Kingdom website, with the test available on PC, iOS, and Android platforms.
