Atari is once again attempting to revive the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise with the announcement of RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks. The new entry is in development at Springloaded, a studio known for its work on Let's Build a Zoo and the upcoming Let's Build a Dungeon.

The RollerCoaster Tycoon series has had a troubled history in recent years. The 2016 release, RollerCoaster Tycoon World, was met with overwhelmingly negative reviews. Adding to the series' woes, Atari launched RollerCoaster Tycoon World on the same day that its direct competitor, Planet Coaster, was set to release. This move did little to bolster the game's reception, as Planet Coaster proved to be the more popular and critically favored title.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks has been announced at Gamescom. While a release date has not yet been set, the game is slated to launch into early access. According to its Steam page, the game will not be feature-complete upon its initial release.
