Atari has announced RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks, a new entry in the beloved theme park management simulation series. Developed by Springloaded, the studio behind Let's Build a Zoo, the game is set to enter PC early access on Steam this winter. Wonderworks aims to capture the spirit of the original 1999 RollerCoaster Tycoon while introducing modern enhancements.

The original RollerCoaster Tycoon, designed by Chris Sawyer, was a landmark title that allowed players to meticulously design theme parks, construct intricate roller coasters, and manage all facets of the business. Following several installments and rereleases, the series is receiving a mainline entry developed by a new team, with Atari reviving the intellectual property.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks will feature an isometric perspective, presenting parks with a more stylized, toylike art direction. Players will be tasked with managing finances, customizing attractions, and maintaining park operations. According to Atari, the game is being designed to offer both depth for series veterans and approachability for newcomers, incorporating expanded customization options and streamlined management tools.

Key new features include a more intuitive roller coaster design tool and an "accurate" physics engine. Springloaded is also bringing its signature sense of emergent chaos and humor, evident in Let's Build a Zoo, to RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks. The announcement trailer showcased rides malfunctioning spectacularly and park guests experiencing unexpected dispatches from the map, hinting at the chaotic fun players can expect.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks will be available for $24.99 in PC early access. Atari plans to release the full game on both PC and consoles after the early access period concludes. A specific release date has not yet been provided.
