Actress Rosario Dawson has revealed that she filmed a scene as her Marvel character Clare Temple for the upcoming film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," but the footage was ultimately cut from the final movie. Dawson shared this information during a panel at GalaxyCon, as reported by Collider.
Dawson portrayed Clare Temple, a nurse who often aided superheroes, across 32 episodes of Marvel's Netflix series, appearing in "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," "Iron Fist," "Luke Cage," and "The Defenders." Temple was a significant character, particularly in "Luke Cage," with whom she had a romantic relationship. While "Daredevil: Born Again" has been confirmed to feature numerous characters from the previous Netflix era, Temple's absence has left her fate a mystery.
This cut scene aligns with earlier reports from industry insider DanielRPK, who suggested last year that Dawson would reprise her role as Temple in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" to assist an injured hero. Fan speculation at the time pointed out that the filming dates for "Brand New Day" in the UK coincided with Dawson's presence in the country for filming the second season of "Ahsoka."
With the scene removed, it remains uncertain if or when Clare Temple might appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again. The film is set to feature a large ensemble of characters, and recently unveiled a first look at Sadie Sink's mysterious role, though confusion persists regarding her character's dialogue. Tom Holland has also publicly denied speculation that Sink is playing Jean Grey.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 31.
