RuneScape: Dragonwilds Devs Acknowledge Poor Switch 2 Visuals, Promise Gradual Improvements

Developer Jagex has acknowledged that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of its survival game RuneScape: Dragonwilds is not meeting the team's visual standards. The studio stated that while the game maintains a stable framerate on the console, players have raised valid concerns about blurry visuals, particularly with lighting and shadows.

In a recent statement to Switch 2 owners, Jagex admitted, "The Switch 2 build is not where we want it to be today, visually." The company emphasized its commitment to improving the game on the platform as part of a long-term support plan. However, players should expect these enhancements to arrive incrementally through several patches rather than a single large update, as the studio indicated that an engine overhaul and improved image clarity will "take time."

Jagex also addressed discrepancies between the game's current appearance on the Switch 2 and the screenshots displayed on its Nintendo eShop page. The developer confirmed that it has submitted updated assets to Nintendo to more accurately represent the game's visuals on the hardware. The studio aims to ensure that Dragonwilds performs and looks its best across all platforms, including handheld consoles, and encourages continued player feedback.
