Jagex has announced the upcoming Umbral Sands update for RuneScape: Dragonwilds, set to release on June 23rd. This update precedes the game's 1.0 launch, which is scheduled for September 15th. The Umbral Sands update introduces a new desert biome to the game, described as a land once home to a thriving civilization called the Moon Garou, followers of the River Mother. This civilization was reportedly ended by a dragon named Fuzan.
Within the Umbral Sands, players will need to manage the effects of direct sunlight, which inflicts a status called Scorch. This condition rapidly increases hunger and thirst. The update also brings the Fight Cave, located at the base of Fuzan's Tower. This replayable mode will feature waves of enemies and offers opportunities to acquire advanced modes, rare crafting rewards, and powerful Vestiges. Additionally, players will be able to obtain a magic carpet, a new mount type designed for traversing the desert dunes.
