Ryan Gosling is officially set to star as Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealing that the actor approached the studio with a well-defined concept for the character. Gosling's passion for the Spirit of Vengeance has been a subject of speculation for years, but his direct engagement with Marvel has now cemented his involvement.

Speaking after the San Diego Comic-Con 2026 Hall H presentation, Feige shared that Gosling is a dedicated fan of the Ghost Rider comics and brought a "specific vision based on some particular comics" to Marvel. Feige declined to specify whether Gosling would embody Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch, indicating that the actor will unveil these details himself.

Gosling himself had previously hinted at discussions with Marvel Studios regarding the role. In March, he described the situation as "complicated" but acknowledged that "some discussions have been had."

The Ghost Rider film is slated for a 2028 release and will be directed by Shawn Levy, known for his work on Deadpool & Wolverine, with Jonathan Tropper of Star Wars: Starfighter fame penning the script. Further details about the character's portrayal and the specific comic inspirations are expected to be shared by Gosling and Marvel Studios as the project progresses.
