In Insomniac's upcoming Marvel's Wolverine, the adversarial relationship between Wolverine and Sabretooth will extend to their cooperative gameplay, with Sabretooth intentionally stealing kills from Wolverine. This mechanic aims to reflect the characters' long-standing animosity as depicted in comic book lore.

Senior project director Jess Reiner-Reed explained that these kill-stealing moments can occur randomly during gameplay. Players may experience Wolverine in the midst of dispatching an enemy, only for Sabretooth to intervene and finish the foe off. Reiner-Reed stated that this is intended to evoke a specific player reaction mirroring Logan's frustration.

"You'll be in the middle of taking out an enemy and he like, wrecking ball grabs the enemy and takes him out," Reiner-Reed told IGN. "And the first couple of times you're like, ‘What the hell, Sabretooth?’ But then you're like, ‘Wait, that's the exact feeling we want the player to feel.' Logan has this animosity with Sabretooth and it's like, ‘Yeah, way to go guy. You just took my kill. Thanks.' So yeah, I love some of those moments we have in there."

The developers highlighted a specific scenario where Wolverine restrains a Trask guard, only for Sabretooth to then tear the enemy apart. This dynamic emphasizes the often-antagonistic partnership between the two mutants.

While Wolverine has been shown teaming up with Jean Grey and Sabretooth in previous gameplay reveals, Insomniac has indicated that he will collaborate with other characters as well. Speculation about potential co-op partners includes Mystique, who has made brief appearances in trailers, as well as Leech, Callisto, Toad, Caliban, and Lady Deathstrike, all of whom have been featured in promotional material, potentially in scenarios involving Trask's forces.
