Samsung has launched its newest lineup of foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8, alongside updated smartwatches. The devices, announced in London, are slated for release and pre-order availability starting August 7th. This new generation emphasizes enhanced AI capabilities, improved hardware, and refined user experiences.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, billed as Samsung's thinnest foldable yet, measures 4.1mm when unfolded and weighs 215 grams. It incorporates Flex Titanium technology for increased rigidity and an Armor Flex Hinge to minimize creasing. The device features a 5,000 mAh battery, capable of up to 27 hours of video playback and charging to 67% in 30 minutes. Its display offers higher resolution, 3,000 nits brightness, and a low-reflection finish. Camera specifications include a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. Powering the Fold8 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, complemented by AI tools like Nightography and the Advanced ProVisual Engine. The Fold8 Ultra starts at £1,899 and is available in Violet Shadow, Graphite, Cream, and Green Shadow.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is presented as the lightest foldable from Samsung, featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio when open, suitable for gaming and reading. A notable new feature is My FanCam, which allows users to customize video by selecting a focal person and aspect ratio, generating a dynamic edit. The Fold8 begins at £1,699 and comes in Lavender, Graphite, Cream, and Pistachio.

The Galaxy Z Flip8, weighing 180 grams, showcases an improved FlexWindow, enabling more functionality on the full-edge-to-edge front display without unfolding. Apps can run in full screen, and custom alerts are provided through NowBrief. The camera system includes a Camcorder Grip for stable one-handed recording and Dual Recording to capture both the subject and creator simultaneously, positioning it as a tool for content creators. The Flip8 is priced from £1,149 and is offered in Pink, Graphite, Cream, and Mint.

AI integration was a key theme, with Samsung highlighting its Agentic AI designed to streamline app interactions and create a more fluid user experience. This AI aims to reduce the need for extensive searching and app switching.

In wearables, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra 2. The Galaxy Watch9 focuses on health, featuring a new Sleep Apnea identification function that has received FDA approval. It also integrates with iFit for personalized workout content. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is positioned as a dive computer, offering high water ingress protection (IP69K), a 10 ATM rating, and compliance with the EN13319 standard for diving accessories, developed in partnership with Mares. The Watch 9 starts at £349 (or £399 for LTE), and the Watch Ultra 2 is priced at £649.

Samsung also announced improvements to Samsung Care+ and Samsung Wallet alongside the new hardware.
