Developer Lubna Ahmed has announced that Saraab: Beyond the Veil will launch on PC via Steam and Itch.io on November 3. A demo for the game will be available during the October edition of Steam Next Fest, beginning October 19.
Saraab: Beyond the Veil is described as a horror visual novel drawing inspiration from Arabian folklore. The game follows Elham, a schoolgirl whose brother has been kidnapped. To rescue her sibling, Elham must confront manifestations of her own inner demons, presented as monsters born from her psyche. The narrative emphasizes the importance of healing and self-discovery, as Elham will unlock her bloodline's powers and uncover her true identity. Ahmed stated her excitement to share a story shaped by authentic cultural themes and emotional experiences often underexplored in gaming, hoping players connect with the characters and the game's exploration of the human heart.
Gameplay will involve Elham confronting her past to reclaim her future, with choices leading to branching storylines and the ability to alter reality. The game features hand-drawn, anime-inspired art and an emotional soundtrack, focusing on Elham and her shadow.
