To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Wes Craven's groundbreaking horror film Scream, Paramount is releasing a special collector's set. This Amazon-exclusive bundle, available for preorder now, is priced at $119.99 and is scheduled for release on December 15.
The Scream 30th Anniversary Collector's Set includes the film on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and digital formats. Alongside the movie, the set contains "case file items" reminiscent of detective work, and notably, a replica of the cordless phone used in the film's opening scene. This replica is described as having blood stains and playing "iconic quotes" from the movie.
Released in 1996, Scream is credited with revitalizing the slasher genre, which had become somewhat formulaic. The film distinguished itself by incorporating a meta-narrative where characters were aware of horror movie tropes. Starring Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Drew Barrymore, Scream also featured a compelling central mystery surrounding the identity of the killer, Ghostface.
The original film spawned a successful franchise and is considered a seminal work of 1990s horror cinema. The set also includes several special features, such as "A Bloody Legacy: Scream 25 Years Later," an audio commentary with director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson, and various production featurettes, behind-the-scenes footage, and cast and crew Q&As.
