Selkie's Salvage & Co. Turns Trash Collection into Addictive Incremental Gameplay

The newly announced incremental fishing game, Selkie's Salvage & Co., tasks players with cleaning up a flooded planet by collecting trash. Developed by uglycoal and available on Steam, the game puts players in the role of a robot created by an anthropomorphic rat girl named Selkie.

The core gameplay loop involves fishing trash from the ocean with a basic rod and magnetic arm. As players collect and process garbage, they can steadily increase their capabilities. Upgrades include improved fishing and carrying capacity, an automated net that catches trash passively, and even a component that awards bonus points for shooting collected trash out of the air. The game focuses on optimizing efforts to make trash collection as efficient as possible.

Players may also discover artifacts from the past, such as a basketball or a recycling guide, which can offer mechanical bonuses. The game aims to capture the satisfying progression characteristic of incremental titles, where the drive to increase numbers outweighs other concerns.

Selkie's Salvage & Co. is slated for release on October 27th. A demo is available, and players can wishlist the game on Steam.
