Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition Delayed to Early 2027

Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition has been pushed back to early 2027, according to a newsletter update from publisher Inin Games. The delay is intended to ensure the project is properly polished, with the company stating they are working to "get everything right."

The Enhanced Edition was initially slated for release in the fourth quarter of this year. It is now scheduled to arrive in early 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

This updated version of Ys Net's 2019 title promises a range of improvements over the original. Players can expect visual enhancements, quality-of-life updates, and performance boosts leveraging modern hardware. Additionally, the Enhanced Edition is set to feature DLSS/FSR support, increased NPC density in the city of Niaowu, and a classic camera mode reminiscent of the first two Shenmue titles.

Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition was first announced in August 2025. The upcoming release represents a renewed effort for the third installment in the long-running series, which has been met with a mixed reception despite its dedicated fanbase. Shenmue 3 was originally released in 2019 and garnered praise for its detailed environments and faithful adherence to the series' established formula, though it was also criticized for certain gameplay elements.
