A remastered version of the 2004 game Shrek 2 is coming to modern consoles. The announcement followed an accidental Xbox store listing that revealed multiple screenshots, a pre-order trailer, and details about the game's enhancements.
Developed by Aspyr, Shrek 2: Remastered will feature improved textures, an enhanced user interface, and 4K resolution support. New additions include a Photo Mode and a Cheat Mode, which will allow players to modify gameplay. The remaster will also support both local and online four-player co-op, making it possible to play with friends and family remotely.
The game closely follows the narrative of the 2004 film, with additional content designed to flesh out the experience. While a specific release date has not yet been provided, the premature reveal suggests it may be announced soon.
The original Shrek 2 game was a popular platformer, and this remaster appears to be timed to coincide with the anticipation for the upcoming Shrek 5.
