Shrek 2 Remastered Coming to PC in November

DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered is scheduled for release in November, Aspyr Media has announced. This updated version of the 2004 game, originally available on PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC, will arrive on Steam.

Contemporary reviews from the game's initial release did not universally praise it. Nintendo World Report described the game as "pretty bad," while Eurogamer called it "harmless, inoffensive, middle-of-the-road action for young children." IGN awarded the game a 7 out of 10, despite the reviewer expressing dread at having to play it.

The game is a 3D platformer featuring the ability to switch between four characters, a mechanic noted as a potential influence on Grand Theft Auto V. It also supports local co-op for up to four players. The game includes eleven levels, which adapt various moments from the film.

This release appears to be a port of the PlayStation 2 version. The original PC release of Shrek 2 differed from its console counterparts, with some players noting the PC version featured lower visual quality and shorter gameplay. Aspyr Media, known for re-releases such as Lord of the Rings: War in the North and Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition, is handling the port.

Shrek 2 Remastered is slated for a November 10 release, nine days prior to the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. Aspyr Media has handled numerous ports and re-releases, including the Lord of the Rings: War in the North and the Neverwinter Nights 2 enhanced edition.
