Konami and Weekly Famitsu have announced a new manga spin-off for the critically acclaimed psychological horror title, Silent Hill f. This upcoming series will delve into the backstory of Kotoyuki, also known as the "man with the fox mask," who plays a significant role in the game. The manga is slated to begin serialization in Weekly Famitsu at the end of 2026.
The narrative will be presented in two parts, with the initial segment exploring Kotoyuki's childhood and the events that shaped him into the character seen in the game. The first key visual for the manga, released by artist Ayato, showcases a bishonen interpretation of Kotoyuki.
This marks the second manga adaptation related to Silent Hill f. The first manga retells the game's story, featuring an alternative ending penned by the game's writer, Ryukishi07. Both Ayato and Ryukishi07 will be involved in the new series, with Ryukishi07 and Konami providing oversight.
Silent Hill f, released on September 25, 2025, garnered positive reviews for its compelling narrative, unsettling atmosphere, and unique setting. The game achieved significant commercial success, selling over one million copies on its launch day and becoming the fastest-selling title in the franchise's history. It represented the first new Silent Hill installment, excluding remakes and remasters, since 2012's Silent Hill: Downpour.
The game's story centers on Hinako, a high school student in 1960s Japan, whose town is enveloped by a mysterious fog. She soon encounters horrific creatures adorned with blood-red spider lilies. Written by Ryukishi07, known for his work on "When They Cry," the game explores themes of misogyny and gender expectations of the era through layered visual metaphors. It successfully retained the series' core elements while distinguishing itself from previous sequels.
Silent Hill f's success is part of a broader revival for the franchise, with other projects like the spin-off Silent Hill: Townfall, scheduled for release on September 24, and a remake of the original Silent Hill by Bloober Team currently in development.
