To ensure a deep comprehension of writer Ryukishi07's distinct narrative style, the scriptwriters for the upcoming Silent Hill f were challenged to read between 100 and 200 books each year during the game's production. Producer Motoi Okamoto shared this detail at the recent CEDEC2026 conference, as reported by GameWatch and noted by Automaton.

Okamoto stated that commissioning a writer necessitates reading the majority of their published work. He explained that this practice is not only a basic courtesy but also crucial for identifying a writer's strengths, weaknesses, and unique stylistic quirks. "If you're going to commission a writer, you should read at least the majority of their entire body of work before commissioning them," he remarked.

This approach underscores Konami's commitment to reviving the Silent Hill franchise with new, substantial entries. Okamoto indicated that the decision to reboot the series was made with a dedicated development team, noting that many members of the current staff were in their twenties and that the original development team, known as "Team Silent," had been largely replaced. He expressed a desire to present the revival as a serious endeavor rather than a tentative remake designed to gauge the series' popularity. "I wanted people to feel that this was a serious attempt to revive the series, rather than a 'wait-and-see' remake that gauges the series' popularity, which is common these days," Okamoto admitted. "That's why I absolutely wanted to announce a new game at the same time as the remake."

Silent Hill f, set in 1960s Japan, has garnered attention for its character roster, atmosphere, and setting, which was inspired by Gero City in Japan's Gifu Prefecture. The game's reception has been positive, with actors Takeshi Masago and Tamami Hiraoka, who portrayed Hinako's parents, being appointed tourism ambassadors for the city.

The series has seen a strong resurgence with the Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team and Neobards' Silent Hill f. Hopes remain high for the next installment, Silent Hill: Townfall, which is scheduled for release on PC and PlayStation 5 on September 24.
