Completing Silent Hill: Townfall unlocks a New Game Plus mode, offering players a chance to revisit the unsettling atmosphere with some fresh additions. This mode introduces new items and provides opportunities to uncover secret, lighthearted endings.
When beginning a New Game Plus playthrough, players should be aware that the inventory resets entirely. However, progress on collectibles like Strange Postcards is maintained across playthroughs; while previously found items won't reappear, players can collect any missed ones. Documents and Clues remain available, though there's no necessity to reacquire them unless required for a puzzle.
New Game Plus also features several new unlockables: alternate outfits for Zoe and Richard, and a powerful, one-hit-kill melee weapon called the Axe, usable by both Simon and Zoe. Additionally, two new 'for fun' endings are available: the Dog ending and the Sci-fi-lent Hill ending.
New Outfits and the Axe
After finishing the game once, players gain access to Zoe's Alternate Outfit and Richard's Alternate Outfit, which can be equipped via the Game Options menu. The Axe, a durable melee weapon that bypasses the durability meter found on items like Planks and Pipes, can be found and used in Part 1 and Part 2 of the game. Once acquired, it remains available for the remainder of the New Game Plus run, making subsequent playthroughs considerably easier.
Simon can find the Axe in Part 1 shortly after the flare in St. Amelia. Instead of ascending the staircase to the left, players should continue straight past the 'for sale' signs and through a white wooden gate. Ascending the stairs ahead and entering the fifth door on the right reveals the Axe on a table. Following the Sci-fi-lent Hill ending, returning to this location and entering the second door on the right unlocks the Pistol 3000.
In Part 2, where Zoe is directed to Mr. Stewart's house on Church Avenue, the Axe can be located leaning against the door of the garden shed at No. 12, before entering Mr. Stewart's back garden through a broken fence.
Unlocking New Endings
New Game Plus introduces two unique endings that require specific in-game actions. The Dog ending involves finding three Coins across Parts 1, 4, and 6, and using them with corresponding guide dog statues. The final Gold Coin must be used near the end of the game, after navigating the hallways and ladders following the CCTV command console puzzle. A dog statue will be present in one of the red hallways to deposit the final Coin before finishing the game.
The Sci-fi-lent Hill ending requires players to find all 15 Strange Postcards to unlock a code for a door in the upstairs Haldane Hotel, accessible during the Otherworld version of St. Amelia in Part 2. Upon obtaining the Strange Access Card from this door, players must also find three Strange Books located in Parts 1, 4, and 6. With the books and the Strange Access Card in hand, players must use the card on the reader to the left of the final door in SWDP during Part 6.
Completing the Sci-fi ending unlocks the Pistol 3000 for future playthroughs. This weapon can be found in the same area as Simon's axe, but through the second door on the right rather than the fifth.
