Konami and Annapurna Interactive have released a new gameplay trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall, offering an extensive look at the upcoming title and clarifying its console exclusivity period. The trailer showcases protagonist Simon Ordell navigating the eerie Shorefront region of St. Amelia, a fictional Scottish island, as he gathers items and encounters the horrors within the mist.

The over 18-minute trailer not only provides a first-hand glimpse of the game's atmosphere and exploration but also discreetly confirms the duration of its PlayStation 5 exclusivity. Fine print at the end of the trailer states that the game will be "Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 6 months after release date." This indicates that other consoles, such as Xbox Series X/S or the Nintendo Switch successor, could see a release from approximately March 2027 onwards.

Developed by Screen Burn Interactive, formerly known as No Code, Silent Hill: Townfall is set to launch on September 24 for PC and PlayStation 5. This title marks a significant shift for the series, being the first mainline Silent Hill game to feature entirely first-person gameplay. Early impressions from a preview of the opening hours suggest a depth beyond initial appearances.

The revival of the Silent Hill franchise, initiated in 2022, includes a slate of new titles such as Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Ascension, the movie Return to Silent Hill, and the shadow-dropped Silent Hill Short Message. According to series producer Motoi Okamoto, the core of the franchise's resurgence lies in maintaining a "strong psychological horror narrative," allowing for experimentation with gameplay styles across different entries like Townfall, Silent Hill 2, and Silent Hill f.
