Silent Hill: Townfall has received a significant update, patch 1.6.0, which introduces a new Hard difficulty mode and comprehensively rebalances all existing settings. The update, available on PS5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, aims to provide a more refined difficulty curve for players.
Key adjustments include modified resource availability in certain game sections and an increase in enemy hearing sensitivity that scales with the chosen difficulty level. Player position is now consistently visible on the map across all modes. The reduction in attack severity for the game's main enemy is now exclusive to Story Mode.
Players opting for the Nightmare difficulty on their first playthrough will now encounter a warning screen. The difficulty selection menu has also been updated to offer a clearer overview of the differences between each option.
The update brings several quality-of-life improvements, such as enhanced valve status lighting to aid colorblind players, additional hints and tutorials, and revised wording for some puzzle clues and item descriptions. The options menu has been reorganized into more distinct categories, and the control remapping option has been renamed to clarify that both keyboard and mouse commands can be rebound there.
PC players will benefit from the addition of a DLSS Ray Reconstruction option, alongside general performance enhancements and bug fixes.
To confirm the update is installed, players should look for version number v1.6.155963 on PC or v1.6.156035 on PS5 displayed in the main menu.
Developed by Screen Burn and published by Konami, Silent Hill: Townfall was released on September 24th. It has been praised for its blend of stealth, world design, and survival horror elements.
