The extensive fan-made mod Skyblivion, which aims to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion within Skyrim, is reportedly nearing its release. While a specific launch date remains unannounced, the development team has initiated a recruitment drive for their communications department to support a final marketing push.
Evan Flatt, Skyblivion's comms lead, stated in a Discord announcement that the team is seeking volunteers with experience in video production or social media. These new members will assist with tasks such as trailer editing, gameplay capture, and developer interviews to publicize the mod. The team is specifically looking for individuals skilled in capturing smooth gameplay footage.
Interested individuals can apply for these volunteer positions through the official Skyblivion website. The modders have been hesitant to set a release date, particularly after their previous 2025 target proved unachievable. Flatt has previously confirmed that Skyblivion will not be shadow-dropped, unlike the official Oblivion remaster, and will have a formal release date announcement.
Given the proximity to major gaming releases such as Grand Theft Auto VI, and the potential for other significant game launches in October, November, or December, the development team may be strategically planning their announcement to avoid being overshadowed. The launch of World of Warcraft: Forever in early November serves as an example of a PC release timing that could be emulated.
Previous ambitious modding projects like Fallout: London have encountered issues with bugs and stability at launch. Developers hope that Skyblivion will have a smoother release, ensuring a better experience for players who may be less tolerant of technical difficulties.
