Skyblivion Seeks Communications Volunteers as Launch Nears

The development team behind Skyblivion, a large-scale mod recreating The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion within The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition, is actively seeking volunteers for its communications team. While a definitive release date remains unannounced, the project is signaling its approach by looking for external help in promotion rather than development.

The call for volunteers, initially posted on the Skyblivion Discord and shared on social media, specifically requests individuals with experience in video production or social media. These volunteers would assist with tasks such as creating trailers, capturing gameplay footage, and conducting developer interviews. The team stated, "As we approach #Skyblivion's launch, we’re looking for volunteers to join our communications team! If you have experience in video production or social media, we’d love your help collaborating on everything from trailer creation to developer interviews."

This recruitment drive for promotional efforts comes as the project continues its long development cycle. Skyblivion was previously targeted for a 2025 release but was later delayed into 2026. In April, project lead Rebelzize acknowledged the potential for further setbacks but expressed internal optimism about the mod's progress. The team has remained relatively quiet publicly since then, with recent communications including a tribute to a modder who passed away in June.

While the shift towards promotional activities suggests that the end of development may be in sight, no concrete release window has been provided. With less than four months remaining in 2026, any imminent release would need to be confirmed soon to avoid further delays. As a volunteer-driven project, Skyblivion's scheduling does not carry the same financial implications as commercial releases, but continued delays would undoubtedly be met with disappointment by fans eager to play the reconstructed Oblivion. The mod has been in development since 2012.
