Slavic Synthpunk Platformer HEAVYDELIC Launches in Early Access

HEAVYDELIC, a unique platformer described as "Slavic Synthpunk," has launched in early access. The game merges hand-drawn art, reminiscent of '70s comic books and VHS aesthetics, with a narrative rooted in Slavic mythology and a vision of an alternate timeline.

The game presents a world divided by a toxic incident, separating humans into "carriers" and "overload transmitters." HEAVYDELIC eschews traditional exposition, opting instead to immerse players in its world through environmental storytelling and its distinctive visual style, which draws comparisons to the surreal presentation of Hylics. Players navigate 2D landscapes, engaging with robot enemies and collecting paintings, with a significant emphasis placed on the game's textured art direction.

Developed by a single artist, HEAVYDELIC's early access version reportedly contains approximately five minutes of gameplay. The developers anticipate a full release by February 2030, with plans for 15 hand-drawn levels. The game's price is expected to increase as more content is added. HEAVYDELIC is currently available on Steam.
