Slayblade, an arcade roguelite inspired by the popular Beyblade toy franchise, is slated for release on Steam this Thursday, August 20th. The game gained significant traction during Steam Next Fest, where its demo topped the charts.
Developed by Henry's House, Slayblade aims to capture the nostalgic appeal of the early 2000s Beyblade craze by translating the concept into a digital format. Players engage in battles by launching spinning discs into an arena, controlling their movement with the mouse to maintain momentum and outmaneuver opponents. Power-ups can be collected within the arena to gain an advantage. Victory in these battles rewards players with in-game currency, which can then be used to purchase upgrades and new parts for their discs.
The game's premise involves exploring a small town where NPCs are eager to challenge the player to disc battles, reminiscent of Pokémon trainer encounters. Despite the demo being brief, the full release is priced at $6, positioning it as an accessible indie title.
