The world of Solo Leveling is expanding with a new video game, Solo Leveling: Karma, set to release in 2026. Developed by Netmarble, this roguelite action RPG aims to delve into a previously unexplored period of the protagonist Sung Jinwoo's life: his 27-year battle within the Dimensional Gap.
At the conclusion of the original Solo Leveling story, Jinwoo rewinds time to prevent widespread casualties caused by the Monarchs, the series' antagonists. He then enters the Dimensional Gap to hunt down these threats over a period of 27 years, while only two years pass in the real world. This extended conflict, though crucial, remained largely unaddressed in the original narrative.
Solo Leveling: Karma will allow players to experience this significant arc firsthand. The game's story trailer revealed that players will guide Jinwoo through the Dimensional Gap as he wages war against the Monarchs. To ensure authenticity, Chugong, the original author of Solo Leveling, has supervised the game's story, contributing to its worldbuilding and atmosphere. Jin Sung-gun from Netmarble stated that Chugong provided detailed feedback on characters and dialogue, ensuring they align with Jinwoo's tone and the established rules of the Solo Leveling universe.
The game's mechanics are designed to evoke the series' signature "thrill of growth through leveling up." Developers have focused on enhancing combat quality and refining the roguelite experience to prevent monotony. In addition to the existing characters, Solo Leveling: Karma will introduce new original characters.
The game is slated for release in 2026 for Windows PC, iOS, and Android mobile devices. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
Solo Leveling has achieved global phenomenon status through its web novel, webtoon, and anime adaptations. A follow-up movie to the anime is also in development.
