Sega's 35th-anniversary celebration for Sonic the Hedgehog is set to include a new Alternate Reality Game (ARG) called Chaos Hunt. However, players looking to participate in the hunt for missing Chaos Emeralds should carefully review the terms of service, which stipulate agreement to AI model training and the sharing of player data with third-party AI vendors.
According to the terms, Sega employs "reasonable efforts to prohibit [third-party] providers from using any of your personal information for the purposes of developing and improving their AI models." The company also states that these third-party providers are obligated to secure and protect the collected data. This announcement was made by Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka in a video framed within the game's narrative, stating that Dr. Robotnik had stolen the Chaos Emeralds prior to the opening of Club Chaos.
The ARG offers several prizes, including a grand prize trip to New York City for three winners to attend Club Chaos. General admission tickets for Club Chaos will be available starting August 28. Additional prizes for the Chaos Hunt game encompass a Leblon Delienne statue, a Lego Sega Genesis, a Sonic 35th-anniversary letterman jacket, a Sonic Crossbody bag, a Sonic 35th-anniversary plush, a King Ice pendant, signed artwork, and a Sonic video game bundle.
In parallel with the Chaos Hunt, Sega is collaborating with iam8bit to release 35th-anniversary Sega Genesis cartridges for both the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Furthermore, the game Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is slated to feature crossover content with various franchises, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Godzilla, Avatar Legends, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
