IDW Publishing has released an exclusive preview of Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla #2, the latest installment in the crossover comic series. The first issue, which arrived in stores recently, saw Sonic, Amy, and Tails teaming up to defend Station Square from the kaiju Mothra and Mechagodzilla.
Issue #2 promises further kaiju mayhem and a detour to Angel Island, the home of Knuckles the Echidna. According to writer Nick Marino, Amy Rose will be "pushed to her absolute limits" in the upcoming issue. The preview also teases Dr. Eggman's involvement, with the mad scientist tracking a crashed mechanical monster and planning to analyze it with his Badniks. Eggman expresses hope that Sonic and his allies will be occupied fighting each other on Angel Island, allowing him free rein.
Marino expressed his gratitude for the positive reception of the first issue, noting the tremendous enthusiasm from fans. He also hinted that characters featured only on the cover of the first issue will appear soon. "Everyone will show up soon enough," Marino stated, emphasizing that the adventure has been crafted to highlight the best of all characters involved.
Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con International can meet writer Nick Marino and cover artist Natalie Haines at the IDW booth. Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla #1 is currently available, with issue #2 set to release on September 2. The final order cutoff for issue #2 is July 27.
