Sonic X Shadow Generations, an updated version of the 2011 title Sonic Generations featuring both Sonic and Shadow's campaigns, is available for purchase at a lower price than Steam's current Fall Sale offering. The game can be acquired for $13.49 / £12.14 via Fanatical, which provides a Steam key for the digital release.
The "Sonic" portion of the game mirrors the original Sonic Generations, where modern and classic Sonic unite to combat the time-altering entity known as the Time Eater. This remastered version includes updated visuals and some adjusted cutscenes. The "Shadow Generations" component introduces a new story focused on Shadow the Hedgehog and his past encounters with Black Doom. After being trapped in the White Space, Shadow gains new "Doom Powers" that enhance gameplay within familiar Sonic-style levels.
While the original Sonic Generations was released in 2011, this combined package adds Shadow's narrative to the experience. The developer's disclosure notes that GameSpot and Fanatical are both owned by Fandom, and this story was created in collaboration with Fanatical's deals team.
