Sony has announced that its new FlexStrike wireless fight stick for PlayStation 5 will not launch as originally planned. The peripheral, which was set to release on August 6, has been indefinitely delayed due to unexpected production issues. The company shared the update on the PlayStation Blog, stating that it is taking extra time to ensure the best possible experience for players.

While the August 6 release date is no longer viable, Sony has not provided a new timeframe for the FlexStrike's availability, promising more information "soon." Players who pre-ordered the fight stick directly from direct.playstation.com can check their order status on the website and will receive direct communications regarding their orders. Those who pre-ordered through other retailers are advised to seek updates from those specific retailers.

The fight stick was intended to launch concurrently with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a new tag-team fighting game that remains on schedule for its August 6 release. Impressions from Evo 2026 suggest the FlexStrike offers a comfortable ergonomic design, with a tilted upward angle towards the back intended to promote a more natural wrist position. The default controls were also found to be intuitive during hands-on testing with Marvel Tokon.

Retailing at $200, the FlexStrike is priced competitively with other high-end fight sticks on the market, such as the Hori Fighting Stick Alpha at $200 and the Razer Kitsune at $220. Sony has indicated that PC compatibility for the FlexStrike will be rolled out post-launch. This expansion into fight sticks follows Sony's recent forays into the PC accessory market, with a desktop speaker and a 27-inch gaming monitor also slated for release later this year on August 27.
