The future of Marvel's live-action Spider-Man franchise remains uncertain, with no official confirmation of a direct sequel to "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." However, hints within the film and recent interviews with star Tom Holland suggest Peter Parker's role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is evolving, potentially setting the stage for the introduction of Miles Morales.

While "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" has surpassed previous franchise installments in theatrical run, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have yet to announce "Spider-Man 5." A post-credits scene did indicate that Spider-Man remains an active presence within the MCU.

Tom Holland is not currently slated to appear in "Avengers: Doomsday." His next potential MCU appearance could be in "Avengers: Secret Wars," scheduled for December 17, 2027. This film, adapting the 2015 comic miniseries by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, features a vast array of superheroes battling on a planet called Battleworld. This aligns with the post-credits scene, where Ned Leeds's Spidey Tracker app registered a Spider-Man sighting on a distant world.

The "Secret Wars" comic event famously introduced Miles Morales from an alternate universe. Following the reestablishment of the multiverse in the comics, Miles became a prominent character mentored by Peter Parker. The character's popularity has been further amplified by an animated film trilogy that began with "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" in 2018.

Sources suggest the MCU may leverage "Secret Wars" to transition the Spider-Man mantle from Peter Parker to Miles Morales. Tom Holland has previously spoken about succession plans being in development for five years and expressed interest in bringing Miles Morales to the screen, serving as a mentor in a similar fashion to Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark to Peter Parker. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" producers have also indicated a possibility for Peter Parker to have one final adventure involving Venom.

Regarding potential release dates, Sony is set to launch the animated film "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" on June 18, 2027. An animated "Venom" film is also in development, though it is still years away. Marvel's recently revealed film slate extending through 2029 includes titles like "Black Panther 3," "Shang-Chi 2," and "The Fantastic Four 2," but no new live-action Spider-Man film has been announced. Given the four-and-a-half-year gap between "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," a new live-action Spider-Man film featuring Holland, or the full introduction of a new webslinger, might not arrive until 2030.
