Director Destin Daniel Cretton has provided fans with the clearest look yet at several villains set to appear in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." In a recent Instagram post highlighting the contributions of costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hays, Cretton showcased the attire of Boomerang and a member of the ninja clan known as The Hand.

These reveals have intensified fan speculation, as the film's substantial roster of antagonists has been kept largely unexplained. Questions persist regarding the identity of the film's central secret enemy, the extent to which some villains will be featured, and the significance of character Sadie Sink's role.

The character of Boomerang, in particular, has been the subject of considerable fan interest due to his minimal appearances in promotional materials. One popular theory suggests that Boomerang might actually be MJ's new boyfriend, portrayed by Eman Esfandi. While Cretton's shared image appears to feature someone other than Esfandi in the costume, some fans posit that the director may be employing misdirection by showcasing a stunt double to preserve the mystery. The post was intended to highlight the costume design itself, rather than definitively reveal the actor portraying the character.

Additionally, Cretton shared an image of a female ninja, seemingly a leader of The Hand in the film's trailers. The individual tagged in the photo is identified as Fan Xiaoshuang, a stunt double and martial artist with previous Marvel credits, including "The Marvels" and Cretton's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." It remains unclear whether Xiaoshuang is portraying the character or serving as a stunt double.

Cretton expressed his appreciation for the artists involved in the film's production, stating, "It's always good to remember that this movie was made by thousands of passionate artists, who have their human fingerprints across everything you will see." He specifically praised Sanja Milkovic Hays and her team for their work on costumes for films such as "Thunderbolts," "Captain Marvel," and "Spider-Man: No Way Home."

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is scheduled for release on July 31. The film's press tour has commenced, with actor Tom Holland indicating that only one individual remembers Peter Parker's secret identity as Spider-Man and discussing his potential involvement in future Avengers films.
