Developer 1047 Games has announced the end of active development for its arena shooter Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and its movement shooter Empulse. The decision, shared on August 26, stems from the inability of both games to generate sufficient revenue to cover the costs of dedicated servers.

In a statement, the studio explained that while they continued to bear the server expenses in hopes of growth, the situation has become unsustainable. Consequently, both Splitgate: Arena Reloaded and Empulse will transition to a peer-to-peer (P2P) model. Starting September 3, dedicated servers will be taken offline, and players will be able to host and join games through a P2P server-hosting browser. This means matchmaking will rely on players actively hosting sessions rather than server infrastructure.

This marks a recurring situation for Splitgate, as its original iteration also shifted to a peer-to-peer environment in August 2025 after its dedicated servers were shut down. The original Splitgate was released in 2019, followed by a beta period in June 2025, and the release of Splitgate: Arena Reloaded in December 2025.

The game combined portal mechanics with Halo-inspired shooting and Quake-like movement, creating a fast-paced experience. Splitgate: Arena Reloaded expanded upon the original by introducing a 60-player battle royale mode and a map creator called The Lab. However, with development ending, no new content will be added to refresh the experience.

Empulse, described as a 6v6 Titanfall-like shooter, will receive one final update before its development concludes. This update is slated to include a new map and a cross-regional price reduction. Following this, no further content or changes are planned for Empulse.
