Offworld Industries has announced that its tactical PC shooter, Squad, will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. A playable alpha for PS5 owners is scheduled to run from October 16 to October 25, offering an early look at the console version.
Xbox players will need to wait for the full release, as no console launch date has been provided yet. The developer has stated that the console experience will be optimized, featuring a curated selection of maps and bespoke performance tuning. New communication methods, including a radial command wheel, will be implemented, and the game is expected to retain its signature 50v50 player matches.
Those interested in participating in the PS5 alpha can sign up via a dedicated portal. Squad originally launched on PC in 2020 and has since gained a reputation as a popular tactical shooter, aiming to blend the detailed simulation of Arma with the more accessible action of titles like Call of Duty or Battlefield.
