S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to receive its first story expansion, "Cost of Hope," on August 20. On the same date, the game will also launch with a significant 2.0 update that completely overhauls its version of Unreal Engine 5. This marks nearly two years since the base game's initial release.
The "Cost of Hope" expansion is the first of two planned story DLCs for the title. It will delve into the Zone's central factions, Duty and Freedom, exploring their differing philosophies on the Zone's nature. Players can expect new locations, allies and enemies, and a fresh narrative.
Simultaneously, the free 2.0 update will bring Stalker 2's Unreal Engine 5 version up to 5.5.4, incorporating new features and content for all owners of the game. GSC Game World has stated that more details regarding both the expansion and the update will be revealed closer to the August 20 release date.
