Star Fox's integration with amiibo figures provides players with exclusive cosmetic customization options for its multiplayer mode. These unlocks are limited to profile banners and emblems and do not affect gameplay, such as granting extra lives or special items. This approach aligns with Nintendo's recent first-party releases.
Only three amiibo figures from the Super Smash Bros. collection, originally released in the 2010s, are compatible with Star Fox. These figures are Fox McCloud, Wolf O'Donnell, and Falco Lombardi. Scanning each amiibo yields a unique battle background, which functions as a banner for a player's multiplayer profile, alongside a selection of emblems, small circular icons also displayed on the profile.
The Fox McCloud amiibo unlocks a banner depicting Fox running within a Cornerian Arwing hangar. The Wolf O'Donnell amiibo provides a banner featuring Wolf in his Wolfen cockpit, set against a vibrant orange background. Lastly, the Falco Lombardi amiibo grants a banner showing Falco relaxing on the Great Fox.
To access these rewards, players must navigate to the amiibo symbol located at the top of the main menu. Selecting this option and then scanning the amiibo over the right Joy-Con will automatically unlock the associated content. These new cosmetic items will then be available for selection within the game's customization menu.
