The second season of the Disney+ live-action Star Wars series Ahsoka is set to premiere on January 20, 2027. This announcement was made at the D23 fan event in Anaheim, California, where attendees were shown a teaser trailer for the upcoming season.

Ahsoka, which serves as a live-action continuation of Dave Filoni's animated series Star Wars Rebels, concluded its first season with a cliffhanger. In season one, former Jedi Ahsoka Tano, alongside her Mandalorian apprentice Sabine Wren, journeyed to the planet Peridea in search of Ezra Bridger. They found Ezra stranded with Grand Admiral Thrawn, both of whom escaped at the season's end. Ezra managed to reunite with General Hera Syndulla and warned her of Thrawn's return and his potential threat to the New Republic.

Season two will see Ahsoka and Sabine remaining on Peridia to confront a more cosmic threat. Following the passing of actor Ray Stevenson, who portrayed Baylan Skoll in season one, the role will be taken over by Rory McCann. Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati were initially employed by allies of Thrawn, but Skoll’s primary objective was to find ancient power on Peridia. The season one finale depicted Skoll discovering statues representing the Mortis gods, cosmic beings embodying aspects of the Force. While Shin Hati focused on a bandit group, Skoll pursued a more spiritual quest. Given Ahsoka's association with the Daughter, a Mortis god representing the light side of the Force, it is anticipated that she will need to further connect with this aspect to counter Skoll's plans.

Star Wars saw success in animation with shows like Maul: Shadow Lord and The Ninth Jedi in 2026. However, the franchise's sole live-action film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. The upcoming Ahsoka season 2 and Star Wars: Starfighter, slated for release on May 28, 2027, will be crucial in determining fan reception to live-action Star Wars projects and the viability of large-scale investments in the format.
