A secret playable Wampa unit has been uncovered in the 2005 PC version of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, more than two decades after the game's original release. The discovery was made by modder Iamashaymin, who is also the lead fan developer for the Battlefront III Legacy project.

To activate the Easter egg, players must create a new in-game profile named "Wampa." After setting up the profile, loading the "Hunt" game mode on the Endor map will unlock the Wampa as a playable unit for the Imperial side. Previously, this mode on Endor only featured Ewok warriors and Imperial Stormtrooper snipers.

The secret was reportedly found by another modder, S1thK3nny, while they were decompiling the game's code for a mod aimed at removing limitations and adding new animations. This particular secret was found deep within the game's code, in an area not typically explored by modders, which likely explains why it remained undiscovered for so long.

This Wampa Easter egg is exclusive to the PC version of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and cannot be accessed on console versions. It is also restricted to offline play, meaning it is not available in online multiplayer matches. However, the secret can be utilized in split-screen play on the PC via the Classic Collection version of the game, which was released in 2024.
