Lucasfilm is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars trilogy with a range of new publications, including a graphic novel that reimagines "A New Hope" from the viewpoints of its three central heroes.

"Star Wars: A New Hope: Triple Take," penned by siblings Chas! Pangburn and Kim Shearer, is set to retell the events of the first Star Wars film through the eyes of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo. Pangburn and Shearer, known for their "Double Booking" series, bring their experience with young adult adventures to this multi-perspective narrative. The synopsis suggests Luke will recall a mythic journey of destiny, Leia will focus on the dangerous reality of rebellion, and Han will humorously emphasize his own heroism. The graphic novel is slated for release in May 2027 and will feature a quartet of artists to bring each character's account to life.

This anniversary initiative extends beyond a singular retelling. Other upcoming releases include "Star Wars: Twin Crossroads" by Beth Revis, which explores Luke Skywalker training his twin sister Leia in the ways of the Force following the events of "Return of the Jedi." This novel promises to delve into the siblings' shared legacy and their differing paths, including Leia's struggle with her lineage as Darth Vader's daughter. It is scheduled for an April 2027 release.

A comprehensive celebration book, "Star Wars: A Celebration Book," from DK, will also be available in April 2027, promising exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes photography, and concept art detailing the franchise's impact and cultural phenomenon. For those interested in darker themes, "Star Wars: Galactic Tales of Terror" by Cavan Scott will explore the mysterious and terrifying aspects of the galaxy, featuring characters like Anakin, Luke, Leia, and Rey, and is set for release in September 2026.

Further expanding the lore, "Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren" by Charles Soule from Marvel Comics is available now, focusing on Kylo Ren's ascension to Supreme Leader. "Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch – Rogue Agents," a graphic novel continuing the adventures of Clone Force 99, will be released in November 2026. Insight Editions will release "Star Wars Icons: Vader" in October 2026, a deep dive into Darth Vader's iconic status, featuring contributions from journalist Anthony Breznican and actor Hayden Christensen.

Marvel Comics will also publish "Star Wars Rogue One: Chirrut & Baze" and "Darth Vader" one-shot comics in October 2026, continuing the story from the film. Additionally, "Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett" receives a comic adaptation in September 2026 from Marvel Comics, chronicling his rise to power on Tatooine. Finally, "The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu," detailing the making of the upcoming film, is set for a November 2026 release.
