Players in Star Wars Zero Company can freely respec their character's class and abilities once they reach Cycle 3, an early stage in the game. This process allows for complete customization of a character's build, including refunding all spent Focus Points to reallocate them into a different skill tree.
To change a character's specialization, players need to interact with the Personnel console located by the map table. From there, they can navigate to the Focus Tree tab and select 'Change Specialization' in the bottom right corner. A new class can then be chosen. This change comes at no cost and fully refunds all Focus Points, enabling a fresh start with the character's abilities. The only exception to the refund is Focus Points invested in a story character's top-tier talent.
Recruitable operators also gain the ability to have their talents changed in the same menu after they are unlocked. This means that player preference for an operator's appearance or personality can be prioritized over their initial specialization, as any operator can be customized to fit a desired role. The game's design encourages experimentation with different specializations due to this flexibility.
This system ensures that team composition remains variable throughout the game. Players are encouraged to try out various classes and talents, as any character, including initial story characters like Trick and Kabb Uppercut, can have their builds altered at will. This approach supports diverse playstyles and allows players to adapt their squads to different challenges or preferences without penalty.
