Star Wars Zero Company Estimated to Have Sold 1 Million Copies

Star Wars Zero Company is estimated to have sold 1 million copies, with nearly 70% of those sales originating from Steam, according to Alinea Analytics' Rhys Elliott.

Elliott shared the performance data on social media, detailing that 69.9% of the 1 million sales were on Steam. PlayStation accounted for 19.9% of sales, and Xbox platforms made up 10.2%. These figures suggest Zero Company has generated approximately $50 million since its launch last month.

This performance is considered "respectable for this genre and during such a crowded period," despite the strength of the Star Wars brand. It remains unclear if the sales meet publisher EA's expectations, as the company, now private, is not obligated to release official sales figures.

Prior to the game's release, developer Bit Reactor, comprised of former Firaxis XCOM developers, reportedly furloughed a significant portion of its staff due to financial difficulties. The studio stated this decision was made before the launch's outcome was known and was not influenced by EA or Disney. Game File reported that around 80% of Bit Reactor's staff were furloughed, leaving a skeleton crew for post-launch support.

Elliott also noted that Zero Company's sales are primarily concentrated in Western markets, with North America and Europe accounting for 90% of its player base. Less than 5% of players are in Asia.

User reviews on Steam from China indicate a 57% positive rating, significantly lower than the global average of 82%. Many Chinese reviews cite a lack of voice-over and localization options as reasons for dissatisfaction. While Star Wars has historically had less traction in Asia compared to the West, the absence of comprehensive localization appears to be a compounding factor.

The most recent patch for Zero Company was released on September 10, with no further studio updates following. IGN's review of Star Wars Zero Company awarded the game a 9/10, praising it as an excellent tactical title that successfully captures the cinematic feel of the Star Wars Jedi games, featuring strong characters and a story focused on non-Force users.
