Bit Reactor, the studio behind the recently released Star Wars: Zero Company, is in the process of rehiring developers who were placed on furlough prior to the game's launch. Studio CEO Greg Foertsch stated that this marks "an important step forward in our continued support for Zero Company."
Foertsch acknowledged the difficulty of the decision to furlough staff, stating that it was necessary due to "unexpected business developments outside of our control and so close to launch." He expressed pride in the team's accomplishments and thanked fans for their support, promising further updates soon.
Reports indicated that approximately 80% of Bit Reactor's workforce was furloughed weeks before Star Wars: Zero Company's release, a move attributed to financial challenges following a legal dispute between the studio's co-founders. While the exact number of returning employees has not been specified, reports suggest that more than half of the studio's staff are now back on payroll.
Star Wars: Zero Company has achieved significant success since its launch, selling over one million copies and receiving praise for its tactical gameplay, which has been compared to the XCOM series. The studio hopes to bring the remaining furloughed staff back to work in the near future.
