Stardew Valley, the acclaimed farming simulation RPG, is crossing over into the world of tabletop gaming with a series of new Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair card sets. Developer ConcernedApe, known for his work on both Stardew Valley and the upcoming Haunted Chocolatier, has partnered with Wizards of the Coast to bring the charming aesthetic of Pelican Town to the popular collectible card game.
These limited-edition sets will feature remixed versions of existing Magic: The Gathering cards, as well as entirely new cards, all imbued with the pixelated art style and thematic elements of Stardew Valley. Some combinations directly reflect the gameplay of Stardew Valley, such as "Swords to Plowshares" and "Crop Rotation," both fitting for a game centered around farming and resource management. Another set includes a "Community Center" card, which is a re-imagining of the Magic: The Gathering "Fountainport" land card.
There are three distinct Stardew Valley x Secret Lair sets planned. The "Welcome to Stardew Valley" set includes cards like "Stardew Valley" itself, "Mermaid's Pendant" (a reskin of "Wedding Ring"), "Pierre's Truce" (based on "Dawn's Truce"), "Swords to Plowshares," "Rites of Flourishing," "The Welcoming Committee" (a dual card representing Kynaois and Tiro of Meletis), "Sol Ring," and a "Food Token."
The "Life in Pelican Town" set features "Crop Rotation," "Community Center" (a remixed "Fountainport"), "Pelican Town" (based on "Homeward Path"), "Tower of Rasmodius" (a "Command Tower" variant), and "Valley Farmstead" (inspired by "Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth").
Finally, "A Flicker in the Deep" set includes "Royal Serpent" (based on "Atsushi, Blazing Sky"), "Big Slime" (a "Miotic Slime" reskin), "Arcane Signet," "Galaxy Sword" (a "Sword of Forge and Frontier" variant), "Treasure Vault," an "Ooze Token," and a "Treasure Token."
These Stardew Valley themed Magic: The Gathering cards are scheduled to go on sale on July 27th. Given the nature of Secret Lair releases, which are printed in limited quantities, players are advised to act quickly if they wish to acquire these unique crossover items.
