A new mod for Stardew Valley, titled Farmers Store, allows players to manage their own supermarket, adding a layer of business simulation to the popular farming game. Developed over the past six months by Nexus Mods user bubuge12, the mod introduces features such as stock management, employee hiring, and advertising. The core gameplay loop involves villagers visiting the player's store to purchase harvested and crafted goods, a departure from the game's usual mechanic where sold items disappear into a void.
Farmers Store also incorporates an "Overcooked-style kitchen" and is designed with compatibility for several existing Stardew Valley mods. Multiplayer support is currently in development.
While the mod is functional, it has some limitations. The in-game text is primarily in Chinese, although a Russian fan translation is available. Community members have expressed a strong desire for an official English localization, with some offering to assist. A portion of the dialogue, approximately 20%, was generated using AI, though the developer intends to replace this with original content in the future.
